The journal "Issues of risk analysis" began to be published in 2004 as a fundamental scientific journal, which was given the status of the official printing body of the all-Russian public organization "Russian scientific society of risk analysis". In 2007, the journal also became the official publication of the expert Council of EMERCOM of Russia formed in the same year. The concept of the scientific journal is based on the presentation of the whole range of risk studies. The journal publishes articles of fundamental and applied nature, as a rule, interdisciplinary and multifaceted, devoted to the problems of analysis and management of risks of different origin and nature.

During its existence, the journal has passed the path of becoming a prestigious scientific journal in the field of risk research, increased its frequency from two to six issues per year while maintaining the volume of each issue. More than 500 author's articles have been published.

In 2008, the journal "Issues of risk analysis" was included by the Higher Attestation Commission of Russia in the "List of peer-reviewed scientific publications, where must be published basic scientific results of dissertations on competition of a scientific degree of candidate of Sciences, on competition of a scientific degree of the doctor of Sciences". In 2015, the magazine was successfully passed the given recertification. At the moment, active work is underway to include the journal in International abstract databases such as SCOPUS, WOS, etc.
